Another successful and long awaited annual Armenian Summer Festival took place in London

Armenian Summer Festival is an annual event, where thousands of Armenians gather together to enjoy Armenian music, dance, and of course delicious food and drinks. In spite of its name, the festival is open to everyone. The event is where multicultural communities can get acquainted with the Armenian rich cultural heritage.
On the 10th of  July under the leadership of His Grace Bishop Hovakim Manukyan, Armenian Church in the United Kingdom and Ireland hosted the 12th Armenian Summer Festival in North Acton Playing fields. Ambassador Varuzhan Nersesyan, Lord Lieutenant of Ealing Richard Kornicki,  Members of the UK Parliament Dr. Rupa Huq, Mrs. Ruth Cadbury, and Mr. Steve Pound (Former MP) were also in attendance.
The formal opening of the festival started with the welcoming speech of Bishop Hovakim Manukyan and Ambassador Varuzhan Nersesyan. They both indicated the importance of such events for the local Armenian community. The Parliamentarians and other guests also addressed the crowd.
The entertaining program started with a performance of a special guest from Yerevan, beloved artist Sofi Mkheyan. Afterward, the “Akhtamar” dance group performed several Armenian dances and made the crowd join them at the end. Another special guest was Armenian-British comedian Kev Orkian who told the public his funny and remarkable stories. In the end, DJ Sipan Dro Simonyan curated the most-loved Armenian songs and music, which played till the end of the event. The crowd also had a great chance to buy Armenian wine, books, handmade jewelry, and souvenirs from the stalls.
The Primate and the Armenian Church of the United Kingdom are grateful to everyone who was part of the organization and realization of the event. The festival would not be a success without the hard work and dedication of organizing committees and volunteers. Special thanks to organizers Bedros Aslanyan (Chair), Andre Simonian, Zorik Gasparian, Sipan Petrosyan, Mia, and Lara Bazzoui; festival MCs Teni Matian and Vanouhi Petrosyan, the food committee led by Ms. Rita Barseghian and Razmik Navasartian for the delicious barbecue, and many others for their continued support.
